currently listening to

Here are five albums that I am currently listening to:

  • Ryan Adams – Love is Hell: This is a very good album It is a mellow listen kinda like David Gray I would recommend this highly if you like that kind of music I think David would like this a lot.
  • Keane – Hopes and Fears: This is a great album It has a very interesting full sound since they only consist of a singer, a piano and a drummer They have an alternative, Coldplayish beat but with a different sound I think Ryan would dig this band a lot Maybe Ryan can join a band now.
  • Blue Merle – Bringing in the Sun: Very, very Coldplay like, which I love They don’t have as much guitar as Coldplay and use more piano and other instruments They have a great, easy-listening sound.
  • Live – Awake (Best Of): A lot better than I thought it would be They have a great sound beyond just the top 40 hits they had Good alternative listen.
  • Green Day – American Idiot: By far their best album They stretch the melodic punk mold in this album It is a little to political in the lyrics for me but I really never have listened to Green Day for their lyrics They have a great, catchy pop punk sound that is contagious There are some really good songs on this album, give it a listen.

What are some current albums that you are listening to? I would love to have some new recommendations.

a great way to get back

Here is an awesome story about someone getting back at an eBay scammer. Now if we could only find a way to get back at spammers.

Here is the site for the story with pictures and movies.

Here is a retelling of the story with more of the ending.

Take a read. It will warm the heart that the good do win sometimes.

new podcast

For those interested in that sort of thing, Jonathan Schwartz’s, basically second in charge at Sun Microsystems, has started a podcast. You can get his inaugural podcast and background info here.  I think it is pretty sweet that such a high ranking official in a major corporation not only has a blog but now a podcast. It is amazing what technology and a little hype allows people to accomplish.

so true

This post is so true. It reminds me of the “Whore of Mensa” story in Woody Allen’s Without Feathers.

now bugger off

“Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.”

……………………………

This article rates the top twenty Monty Python sketches of all time. I like a lot of the ones they chose but are missing a few of my favorites:

  • The Cheese Shop Sketch
  • The Argument between the peasant and King Arthur
  • The philosopher’s song
  • The battle between King Arthur and the Black Knight
  • Sounds that offend

These are just a few that I find extremely funny. I disagree with the article in that I believe the Dead Parrot sketch should be number one. What are your top Monty Python sketches? My top five are:

  1. Dead Parrot sketch
  2. Guy de Loimbard’s Castle
  3. Nudge Nudge
  4. Argument Clinic
  5. The Cheese Shop sketch

need to do some research

I have always been interested in history. After reading church newsletter from a Catholic church, I came to the conclusion that I would like to learn about church history. I have been doing some research into early Christian writings that are not included in the Bible, like the New Testament apocryphal books. I would like some recommendations for books about church history, specifically how the church was first formed and how they progressed, how they formed the Bible of today and how the Catholic church came to such prominence. I would also like a good history on the Catholic church and the history of the rituals (lack of better term) they perform and why they perform them, as well as, the history into some of their theology. I am sure Adam can help me on the last part.

been awhile

It has been awhile seen I have posted. I can attest to the fact since my site traffic has basically dropped in half. I guess will have to pick up the posting. I have been busy with work, family and church. I was trying to make every post really funny and have some story. Well inevitably writers block hit and I had nothing to write about. I will try to get back in the habit of just posting some thoughts and maybe discussions points. I will then not get too down when inspiration doesn’t hit and when it does you might actually get a good post.

Oh well so goes it. Btw, congrats to my sister for getting married this last weekend. I did the little video for the ceremony. If you would like to see it it drop me a comment and I will see about posting on this site.

Later,
Travis
